Delightree Raises $25M: The Agentic OS for Franchises
Why we backed Tushar and Madhulika at seed - and why we're doubling down.
Backing Delightree Again
The next generation of enduring vertical AI companies will be built for industries where decades of technology investment have failed to change how work actually gets done. Franchising is one of the largest examples we’ve found. It’s why we backed Delightree at seed in the summer of 2024, and why we’re backing the company again in its $25 million raise alongside Accel, Innovious, and Emergent to build the agentic operating system for franchise and multi-unit brands.
This round is about winning the category outright: becoming the operating system every franchise and multi-unit brand runs on.
Why We Backed Tushar and Madhulika at Seed
We first met Tushar Mishra and Madhulika Mukherjee through a franchise operator in our network. The product was young, and the idea of an agentic operating system for franchising was more conviction than business. What stood out wasn’t the size of the problem. It was how specifically they understood it. As Tushar puts it, “Most software built for multi-unit businesses was designed to track operations, not run them.” Tushar and Madhulika could tell you exactly where a new location’s launch stalls, which compliance step gets skipped first when a manager is stretched thin, why frontline turnover compounds instead of leveling off. Founders only talk that way after living inside a problem for a long time.
Before investing, we looked at dozens of companies attacking pieces of this: training tools, compliance checklists, communication apps, task managers. All point solutions. Delightree was the only team building the whole operating system, with the ambition to bring agentic AI to the operators, franchisees, and frontline teams who power Main Street. That’s what convinced us to lean in.
Why Franchising Needs an Agentic Operating System
Most of the businesses we interact with daily, where we eat, work out, shop, and get everyday services, are franchise or multi-unit operations. They employ more than 50 million Americans across restaurants, fitness, wellness, retail, healthcare, and home services. And almost none of them run on real software. They run on spreadsheets, group texts, PDFs, and whatever the last regional manager happened to build.
Our investments in 7 Brew Coffee, Insomnia Cookies, and Sweetgreen gave us a firsthand seat to what scaling a great concept actually takes. Winning brands open locations fast without cutting corners, deliver a consistent experience no matter who’s running the shift, and build a culture their frontline employees want to stay in. Lower turnover follows, and so does a better customer experience. Brands that get this wrong spend years fighting inconsistency they never quite stamp out.
Delightree’s Growth Since Seed
Demand has accelerated since Delightree launched just over two years ago. Revenue has grown nearly 20x, and the platform now runs across more than 6,000 locations nationwide. Customers including [solidcore], Dunn Brothers Coffee, Five Star Franchising, JETSET Pilates, MOOYAH Burgers, and Beem Light Sauna use Delightree to streamline training, compliance, communications, audits, and new location openings. Some of that growth came from inside our own walls: TGV's LP base includes franchise operators, and several introductions from our network became Delightree customers. Businesses on the platform open locations two to three months faster, a reduction of 25% or more for a typical operator, while frontline teams reclaim up to 30% of their time.
Delightree acts as a companion for frontline employees, a coach for franchisees, and an operating team for franchisors. It doesn’t wait for someone to pull a report. The platform reads operational signals across a system, flags what’s slipping, and pushes the next action to the person who needs it. It runs underneath the business rather than sitting on top as one more tool to check.
This is the future we’re investing in: every franchise and multi-unit operator with the power of an AI agent in their hands. Not a dashboard to check, but a system that helps them run the business. For a typical restaurant, opening two to three months faster translates into $50K or more of profit that would otherwise never exist, and that’s before counting what better execution does for the locations already open. Multiply that across a brand’s entire footprint and you start to see how the next generation of category-defining brands gets built. We backed Delightree at seed because we believed Tushar and Madhulika would build this. Two years and 6,000 locations later, we’re more convinced than ever, and we still think it’s early.
Timber Grove Ventures backs the founders retooling America's most consequential industries with AI. We invest at the earliest stages in vertical AI operating systems and AI-native services - and because our LPs are operators and owners from across the real economy, our founders' first customers often come from inside our own network.
That's how we came to partner with Delightree, and it's how we work with every company we back.
